Today is damp and rainy. Good for the new plantings, but after a whole summer of rain, not as welcome emotionally. We just aren’t used to this much rain in the Midwest.
Lots of things are just a matter of what you expect and what you are used to.
Buying New Plants
Anyway, today I am going out to buy some more plants. Never mind that I haven’t yet planted what I have. That is my rule in the Spring: I can’t buy more until I have planted all those that I bought previously. The eye is always greater than the arm. You have to keep in check somehow.
Grasses
But I really want to try some grasses. And I lost my variegated sweetgrass, letting it overwinter in the pond (big mistake).
I just wish I had more energy. Some small trees need digging out and transplanting, some perennials , especially the Shasta daisies need division and replanting….. and the far end of the front border needs renovation. I will reasonably do about half that this season. Unless I corral some help. hmmmmm. Who is an easy mark?
