Just like a garden in winter, there are things happening under the surface of what we can see. I have been busy producing posts and advancing projects, some which might be of interest to gardeners or bloggers or garden + bloggers. Take a look at some of pages that popped up over the past month or so….

The Flowers of Emily Dickinson -Victorian Flowers, a complement to the post about her garden.
Plant Science: Leaves, Roots, and Flowers was inspired when something I read wasn’t in depth enough, and I wanted to start recording some information behind the garden advice we often receive.
I started updating some pages and reposted ‘The Prairie Garden’, which is worth reading if you haven’t yet seen it. Or even if you have….
There had been a lot of reading in the autumn, some of which inspired the Emily Dickinson posts, but others were summarized in the Garden Librarian’s reviews.
Among them, is ‘Understanding Garden Design: The Complete Handbook for Aspiring Designers‘ by Vanessa Gardener Nagel. This link to the review tells you why I think it is one of the first books to buy if you are interested in designing your own garden spaces.
There are three other new reviews there that I posted this month. Two shorts and a regular length review, all of garden books.

Blogging
On the back burner for several years was the body of work left over from my Geocities site. I had sectioned off the garden part long ago, and this blog actually was an interim project that had branched out from the garden portion of my website. That same website also had held a page of helpful links and advice for others making their webpages, in the homegrown way in which I was working. We weren’t professionals or even geeks. Most of us were just excited to be on the web and try out the new opportunities and connections.
I “met” Kathy Purdy of Cold Climate Gardening at that time. She helpfully shared the discoveries of garden bloggers when they were few and far between. She has had her page of Blog help for awhile, and as always I lag behind, but we have different experiences and focus. Mine is a nascent blog that has taken a long time to leave the womb….
I know others are doing these things… but they aren’t me. I’m hoping you enjoy and benefit from what I have to offer.
Here is the last post I wrote, “I Want To Be Rich, I Want To Be Famous, I Want A Blog!“. The rest of the webhelp blog is a bit raw, if you know what I mean, but there are a couple posts to get started with.
Garden writing is what I like the most, so those other sites won’t have posts as often as I hope to have here and @ Ilona’s Garden.

I have some flower pictures to publish, but I want to put them into their own post, because there is a story to tell that belongs with them. That is what’s coming up, friends.
And of course, it has been obvious that I played with new templates, etc. What a time drain that is! Still, hoping that it serves up the pages in a way that is less cluttered and more accessible (that is the intent anyway) I welcome your comments on any and all the topics here. Let me know your thoughts :)
