    Ilona,

Is that a paeony peeping through the ground?
I had one in my London garden, none here so far. I’d need to find a variety that would tolerate the heat I think.

your new montage stuff is so
    lovely…from a photograpic/visual
collage eye, i would suggest that
you arrange the photos a bit more by shape, and direction equally
as much as for the color harmonies (which are gorgeous!)
you’re an artist…its the oldest trick: if you stand back and squint, you can sometimes better see the small subtle interactions of horiz./vertical or narrow/wide shapes. it is very like hanging framed pictures and stuff
on a big wall; there is an innate, visually pleasing order that our eye finds in choosing where to hang each one, so they relate as a whole… especially love the pic of the daffodil waves arching to the left…will you send me a
pic? 30 degrees this AM %o
    love, -j.

Joanne-thanks for the tips. I am so caught up in the technical part ( which still is not quite ‘down’ yet, to work on the balance/perspective part. I should probably try to get the arrangement to echo the golden triangle. I shall send you the full resolution pic of the daffodils to do what you wish with. :)

Sheena- that IS a peony (paeony). I’m afraid that most years in Alabama won’t give the required cold dormancy…but y’all have camellias… and we can’t grow those here.

Nicely done. What software program are you using?

    We have peonies too – if I want to cut them to bring into the house, I have to beat the ants who love to swarm them. :}

TC- I use the Adobe Photoshop Elements at this time.

Teresa, don’t you love the fragrance of peonies? My grandmother used to raise them for the florist trade I was told (but I was too little to remember). They do make wonderful cut flowers.

I wanted so badly to really “get into” gardening this year; I began a garden journal, planted seeds and was so excited. Then, as sometimes happens, fate had another plan for me. My colon perforated and I became critically ill and I was hospitalized for two months and spent half a month in a nursing home. I am so hoping that next year things will go according to plan. In the meantime I am so enjoying your site; it fills a need I have for the beauty of gardens.

Oh, hi there!

I was a garden blog pioneer, and began writing on this blog in 2003. Before that I had begun a garden website that has been at its own domain since 2006, Ilona's Garden.

I still love writing, gardening, and art after all these years, although travel and grandchildren have become a big part of my life, now.
