Winter’s Meeting

Reposting this poem from 12/20/04. I don’t often write poetry.

Winter’s Meeting

Winter has laid its cold hand upon me

Its chill reaching to close within

Like frost fingers searching

Numb channels, stiffened too much to shiver.

Chipped out in lacey pattern

Parts of me have swirled away

Caught up in blasts, twirled into the leaden skies

Disappeared from view, forgotten in the still.

Winter, so unbending cold

But stark in beauty

Stands in defiance, waits in covered quiet

Bidding remembrance, it shuns my ungloved touch.

-I.

You should post more of your poems. This one’s lovely. Here’s one of the things it says to me: “Beware Winter!”

I write a poem about very ten to fifteen years. I probably saved one other one besides this. Thank you for commenting and that you appreciated it :)

    i dont consider myself a bard…
    just enjoy wordplay.

this is a beautiful poem!..full of rich imagery. and the double chill
of winter and your inner process.
you should write more. it’s art with words…and you are an artist and
    excellent writer…

Oh, hi there!

I was a garden blog pioneer, and began writing on this blog in 2003. Before that I had begun a garden website that has been at its own domain since 2006, Ilona's Garden.

I still love writing, gardening, and art after all these years, although travel and grandchildren have become a big part of my life, now.
