Continuing Tour of Innis Gardens

Here are more of the promised photos from the trip to Innis Gardens. As you can see there are quite a few types of gardening styles melded into this space and one part I don’t have any pictures of is the Nature preserve- that is completely another effort of posting and picture taking! It so happens that one elderly sister was more interested in the cultivated gardens, while the other sister took an active interest in building a nature preserve … both parts of the garden are a pleasure to stroll, just the right size area to explore on Sunday afternoons.

A part of the garden I especially like is the herb garden. It has raised beds built with cut stone walls. The first picture is of the lavender and thyme collection of which there are quite a few varieties represented.

A long view of that same part of the garden, it shows how protected and private-feeling some this garden is. There is a small green-blue painted gazebo on one side with a few benches and large open circle to view the garden.

Leading out of the herb garden facing the annual flower border pictured in the previous set, is this fine arbor with wisteria hanging from its supports. Some of the most picturesque structures are centered within this herb garden area.

This picture is of the Bible garden. A very short, but highly interesting section of this garden, it holds some unusual plants. I especially loved the use of this large planter with the bold foliage.

Oh, hi there!

I was a garden blog pioneer, and began writing on this blog in 2003. Before that I had begun a garden website that has been at its own domain since 2006, Ilona's Garden.

I still love writing, gardening, and art after all these years, although travel and grandchildren have become a big part of my life, now.
