On September 9, 2003, I made my first experimental post on Blogspot. It wasn’t much more than a trial of creating something with a heading and trying a couple font effects. The first garden related post was the next day, September 10, of those plants mentioned in that post my leadwort did well and I have several good stands of it, Kerria wasn’t well placed (I need to keep it pruned), but thrives. The Iteas were lost due to wrong climate and soil conditions for them here, and the Shasta was also misplaced- and every year I tell myself I will move those driveway plants, but it never seems a good time to do it. Blogging was different in those days- more just little notes and links to interesting stuff, along with a kind of diary of what was going on with a person in their private thoughts and life.
I am late noting that I have not blogged for so long because my husband and I finally went on that trip “out West” that we had talked about for decades. We drove for a long time, saw some amazing sights, got to know things about each other again ( proximity in the car for hours along with the good and bad of a long trip will do that). We were able to take the last of the children on something I wish I had had the resources for to take them all.
But I was late in life coming to the realization that we must “accomplish our dreams”, not just imagine them.
I have taken very long breathers on the blog this year, because, well, blogging for nine years (and I keep trying to run more than one blog) is a long haul. It has been very educational. I’ve learned lots about myself, others, html and css, gardening, growing older, and …photography!
Wish me happy blog birthday.
My next post will be the start of sharing some of the photos I took at the Denver Botanic Garden, which is quite an amazing place.
