We bought the tree today. A Frasier Fir, which is very nice, the type we usually get, but I had really wanted a beautiful Concolor Fir. They are usually beautifully full with soft grayish green needles. Very elegant, but I was outvoted. My husband left a loophole(?) to trump everyone ( “I like them both-we’ll get whatever you want”). But there is absolutely no way I am facing the wrath of the United Kids vote. Not during Christmas season. Yet the decorator part of me mourns that gorgeous tree in someone elses living room…. and it was ten dollars cheaper.
Well, what is Christmas about anyway? Me? (Only fractionally, when I am out shopping). I am joking. But we are all sort of like that aren’t we, all just a little bit about ourselves when we ought to be about others? Although actually Christmas is about all of us. God made Christmas about us, and all our tree trimming and feasting and celebration expresses the joy of that. So let me go find my Messiah CD and let the good times roule 🙂
