Cold damage

======

Today is gorgeous -just gorgeous and I am so happy… because I went to Sam’s Club, as planned, and made my purchase of those hydrangeas I so wanted. And guess what? As I was walking out the door, having gladly paid the ten dollars each for large size shrubs, a lady asked me if I paid five dollars for them. No, I hadn’t. So she asks me if I would like a refund of the money as they are now marked down to five dollars each. Why, yes, thank you, I would like that. And just that easy, they refunded me ten dollars on the two shrubs. Did it make my day? Just as you suppose…. 🙂

Yesterday also found me humming happily to myself. I visited the neighborhood green house, and they had lovely selections of osteospermum! AND some few six packs of heliotrope!!! So I bought the few heliotrope and the couple of ‘Lemon Symphony’, as well as some other types. I was just happy, happy, happy. Fairly bubbling, can you tell? This has been a very positive week for me. Of course I bought a number of other things… since I was so invigorated by these finds. Lovely diascia and bacopa, those “bells” I’ll have to look at the name again, and other things that I’ll list when I do my post on the container arrangements, were bought. I haven’t fully decided what to put together in my pots. I am strongly purple, orange, and white in my plant choices – which will give me bright contrasting colors this year. I have the gray leaved things to soften the effects if I want, and some yellows if I want to go more in the bright direction. I have three places to put all the containers- the back deck, a side deck and the front porch. Today I’ll put some things together, and throw in some alyssum seeds, etc.

I bought some pepper plants and I need to go shopping for the tomatoes, but I’m thinking of waiting a bit to put them in. They don’t like the soil to be cool.

And after mowing? What do I see but lots of bright yellow buttons of dandelions. As usual, it is a good year for dandelions.

Oh, hi there!

I was a garden blog pioneer, and began writing on this blog in 2003. Before that I had begun a garden website that has been at its own domain since 2006, Ilona's Garden.

I still love writing, gardening, and art after all these years, although travel and grandchildren have become a big part of my life, now.
