Today I faced up to the fact that I coddled myself instead of my plants. I had gathered together all my out door containers, and hubby and I stored them for winter in our garage. Unfortunately I didn’t save much from the container’s plants, despite my rosy plans earlier in the year. Instead, the nice weather was spent sprucing up the inside of the house and working on the blogs and websites. There was just so much to do…
More leaves were cleared from the yard and the roof and gutters this weekend. And then I took my daughter out shopping. We had gray skies and some wet snow (just a trace). Autumn was a sporadic sprinter through the last few months. We finally had some color in the Maples and the burning bushes around the area, but only after a large amount of leaf drop. So its was just spots of color to feast on before the beige of November started to set in. And now the snow.
I have some last minute bulbs to put in (just bought them last week). I couldn’t bring myself to punish my body out in the wind and wet, today- but will have to find a bit of time next week. Officially we can put bulbs in the ground any time before it freezes, but the older I get the more wimpy I am about defying the weather.
I think the Indian Summer is now past, and winter is just ahead. There is a touch of sadness in that thought.
Love the kale.
🙂 thanks…I took that picture at the time I snapped the pumpkins and gourds, at the roadside stand in Oct.
