Garden Bloggers- What’s To Like?

25.07.07 | Ilona Erwin | 2 Comments

I really hope as many of you respond to this request as possible because I am downright anxious to know. This is not a compliment fishing expedition, but a discovery quest.

I would like to know who you most like to read in the garden blogging world. Just your personal preference and what basically draws you to those two or three top blogs on your list. Is it info? Pictures? Friendly networking? similar climate? Any and all reasons. If you want to post, ( and give your favs some linky-love!) or list your reasons in the comments- either way put the trail in my comments.

Please help me out with this exploration of what make blogging good for gardeners. If you want to extend it to garden websites and discuss some of that – that would be really welcome, too. Maybe the perfect combination hasn’t been done yet, or you would like to see more websites that have certain things you look for when internet gardening? Write that down, because I would love to get a bead on what my fellow gardeners like and how garden blogging/ webmastering might be changing.

Do you spend more or less time checking out garden blogs? Is it seasonal for you? Anything on the topic is welcome here.

My Garden Philosophy

About Ilona Erwin

I was a garden blog pioneer, and began writing on this blog in 2003. Before that I had begun a garden website that has been at its own domain since 2006, Ilona's Garden.

I still love writing, gardening, and art after all these years, although travel and grandchildren have become a big part of my life, now.

My favorite garden blogs usually have a combination of good photographs and excellent writing. At my favorite blogs, if I’m not learning something new, I’m looking at what I already know in a different way.

But really, if I could, I’d read them all. There’s just too many.

While I like and find myself reading several nature blogs, at heart I am a gardener and like to read about how people garden and how they integrate that activity with the rest of life.A nice combination of conversational story telling and information seems to work best at capturing my attention and bringing me back to read again. Each blog has to have its own voice.
Pictures are nice but not necessary in every post.
