Things can get exciting here in the country- yessirree-bob! Take this scene from the other day:
Handyman (my dh): There’s a plane circling overhead. Wonder what’s up?
Me: Really? Where?
Handyman: Now there are two sheriff cars driving through the field over there…
Me: Really? Where?
Handyman: See? in the road between the Miz H’s fields?
Me: I see them- wow- I hope they don’t find a body.
Handyman: Maybe someone’s little kid got lost in the corn
Me: No- I don’t think it is quite that tall yet
Handyman: I think it’s about six feet
Me: Nahhh
Handyman gets on the phone with Miz H.
Handyman (to me): Miz H says they’re checking for marijuana- back where the rain drowned out some corn.
Me: (laughing) riiiiight. Must be the ragweed took over back there.
…ok back to our usual daily programming…..
Yes, folks. The authorities regularly check our county for illegal substance production tucked into the fields – sometimes they find something and sometimes they don’t. but it is all pretty open around here…must’ve been a newbie pilot spotter or something. We do, however, have the occasional criminal element from the Big City dropping off the odd dead body. Handyman and I both sighed relief that it wasn’t anything like that or a lost child….
and that was the big excitement in my week, friends.
