We are officially entering a heat wave… it has been in the nineties with high humidity, and that wilts me, for sure. I work a bit in the mornings- this morning I did the mowing, then it was off to the store. But it was so hot that it was difficult to keep my mind on even that. I had to stop for an icy orange mocha to keep up my strength. Yes, it was necessary.
August is the time that we are supposed to prepare for fall perennial planting, but I just can’t if this heat keeps up. I know this sounds so whiney, but I really do not handle the high dew point plus heat. Late July was really nice, though dry. I’ve had some dieback in the container plantings, so I am not going to water them as much. I guess the high humidity is keeping things wetter. There are good bargains on planters in the stores, I might go back and buy a couple that I really liked.
