Flowers for the Guestroom… |
I love cut flowers, but I don’t often create bouquets for the house. It is a gracious habit, however, and one which I think I will pay more attention to this year.
The pictures above are of some flowers I originally had for one of my guests right before Thanksgiving, the photo shows them the week after my guest had left. I moved them into my front room to better enjoy them, and it was surprising how long they lasted.
I usually buy my flowers from Costco, now (I have no affiliation- just saying). Costco’s flowers have been some of the highest quality and lasted quite a long time (like these Asian lilies)- not all flowers bought at such prices proved as good. I like Whole Foods flowers, too, for the same reasons.
During the growing season I like to bring in flowers from my own yard, but there are times when the offerings are sparse- I lost many perennials when I was busy in the sandwich time of life: caring for a big family and the separate needs of divorced and aging parents. The garden suffered so much that I was never able to recover and renovate it.
All the more reason for vases of flowers in the house.
I am going to rummage through my old and poor quality pictures (usually from those disposable cameras, remember them?), just to see if I can come up with pictures of flower arrangements that were special to me. Just because.
