Kitchen Notes

The cooking station shows tuna grilling on the Jenn-Air stove. I had a Jenn-Air previously as my very first stove not previously owned. I had always had second hand (or third or ???) given to us, or bought at auction, etc. Once I decided to buy my own new stove I went with Jenn-Air because of the indoor grill. At that time it was pre-George Foreman. I liked it so well that even after years of using it when the electronics blew out from the time the lightening struck our transformer, I chose the newer version of what I had before.

It is a “drop in” style, which fit the space, and a little shelf is built at the back. This is covered with the tiles that we used also on the side counter with the Italian painted tiles arranged across the backsplash. It was Handyman’s idea to arrange this symmetrically, He is symmetrical and I am asymmetrical. His design sense for this was better… and I am very happy that we went with his arrangement.

You can sort of see the glazed painting that I applied to all the walls. It has held up very well, and I am still happy with it. It was a sage green undercoat with deep sage, white glazes rolled over the top, then splashes and marbling with a medium gray glaze- a three part process.

Oh, hi there!

I was a garden blog pioneer, and began writing on this blog in 2003. Before that I had begun a garden website that has been at its own domain since 2006, Ilona's Garden.

I still love writing, gardening, and art after all these years, although travel and grandchildren have become a big part of my life, now.
