I was a garden blog pioneer, and began writing on this blog in 2003. Before that I had begun a garden website that has been at its own domain since 2006, Ilona's Garden.
I still love writing, gardening, and art after all these years, although travel and grandchildren have become a big part of my life, now.
nice video–seeing all that
lovely green stuff growing
improved my frozen attitude.
i cant wait to feel warm earth
in my hands again!
remind me of this when i start
complaining about the heat down
here in the “sunny south”
vty, j-lea
have you ever thought of creating such a “community” on your own farm w/ seminars or whatever?
my original intent here was to get
share/market going with atlanta
people who couldnt get good organic
produce. a sort of buying club,
with upfront funds for my work, seeds, gas for tiller and etc. in exchange for fixed # bagfuls of
various produce all summer.
even a “come and pick” family
visiting farm. instead i sold herbs and produce via an organic buddy who took stuff to chef’s market in the city weekly.
i ended up smaller-scale: trades and exchanges with friends and neighbors[massage, eggs, melons car repairs, organic chicken, a clothes-dryer, haircuts, etc.]
these days fresh/organic produce
is fairly available, and i’m
alot less social…
Organic is still a little more expensive than non-organic. And the “little more” can mean a lot to some folks. Getting to know the farmer and what is meant by “farm fresh” instead of jumping on the organic bandwagon might be something to consider.
