Carrots are one of my favs |
I haven’t grown my own carrots for years and years. They just weren’t worth it financially or the way I went about it. Carrots need a deep soil of good tilth without clumps so they grow nice and straight, and other such concerns. I had the idea “been there, done that”. I probably won’t grow any this year, again, but my attitude is changing. Slowly, I am using more of the garden to produce food and less ornamentals. All the talk about edible plantings, etc. has me again interested in trying out varieties of veggies for their unique taste qualities, etc. Tomatoes and lettuce stayed on top of my list and garden efforts through the years, but now I’m thinking….hmmmm, carrots….. hmmmm beans. You get the picture, right?
OK, in celebration of all these thoughts I have a nice video to share on making a nice presentation of carrots in your cooking. Enjoy!

Interesting video! Presenting the vegetable in this way makes me take a second look.
You brought up an interesting point about carrots needing loose soil thats not cramped. I have a friend who is a avid urban farmer who gave me a GREAT tip!
She said radish and carrots make great gardening partner as the radish break up the soil for the carrots to help them get the loosness they need.
Im trying that this season. (your blog is beautiful btw, just found it today)
Those very small diced carrots would be more palatable for sure. They are cute. I’m like you in growing carrots. I can only remember one time-back to the 80s but we won’t go there:)-when I had success with carrots. Funny thing is though I have a packet of carrot seeds sitting on my table making me feel guilty. If I grow them I’ll cut them like this as I would think they’d be more tender?
